DEPARTMENT OF HOME SCIENCE

A) Introduction:
Home Science assures to develop full potential of human beings and enhances the quality of life for individuals and families. Because of this mission-oriented approach, much of the practice of Home Science concerns the solution to practical problems of daily life. It is interdisciplinary field and centers around the families and their functions. Home Science provides knowledge and skill to manage the home effectively. The factors like good nutrition and a pleasant atmosphere contribute to a person’s health and happiness. The need for education in the field of Home Science is rising with the recent trends of the aspirations of the society. To strengthen and sustain the quality of education in the field of Higher Education and to meet the challenging demands of the society, we have introduced Home Science Course in our college. This would not only enhance and promote women’s education in the professional fields but also will create competent, self-reliant, entrepreneurs which is the basic aim of Nutan Vidya Mandir Education Society.



B) Establishment:
Though Late Sow. Kamaltai Jamkar Mahila Mahavidyalaya has been established in 1983, the HOME SCIENCE DEPARTMENT has been started in the date 27 July, 2001.

C) Objective :
  • To study the different branches of Home Science with implied practical applications.
  • To acquaint the students with scope of Home Science.
  • To inculcate the utility of Home Science among the students.
  • To employ the branch of Home Science for career building and entrepreneurship.
